In May, nearly 100 persons were in attendance at a Gala event at AC Hotel in Portsmouth that helped raise more than $15,000 to support The Chase Home. The event was presented and organized by Seacoast Oral Surgery Center & Lakes Region Oral Surgery Center.
While primarily focused on providing clinical, counseling, and psycho-therapeutic services to at-risk youth, ages 11 to 19, The Chase Home in Portsmouth offers an ambitious Summer Program explicitly designed “to create unforgettable memories.”
On the first Friday of each month this year, Jersey Mike’s Portsmouth will provide free regular subs to 10 to 15 youth residents who live at The Chase Home.
The Chase Home recently received a $2,800 donation from The 1623 Foundation, a Portsmouth-based local charitable organization founded by 10 local seacoast residents in 2022. “Chase Home was our inaugural vote winner,” said Co-Founder James Tobin, who said their name is “a play on the year in which Portsmouth was settled.”
One of the unique aspects about The Chase Home is length of employment of some staff, especially in leadership roles, a fact that Executive Director Meme Wheeler said helps produce “stronger therapeutic and clinical outcomes.”
“The workforce shortage is real, so there are challenges for us, but we have been fortunate that some staff members have been with us for years,” she said.
On November 8, The Chase Home held the 8th Annual Wine & Chocolate Tasting Presented by LeMay Family Goodworks and Hosted by Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club.
A contestant on the current season of NBC’s The Voice!, Cara Brindisi will perform live at The Chase Home’s 8th Annual Wine & Chocolate Tasting on Tuesday, November 8. A Worcester, MA singer and Shrewsbury, MA native, Brindisi has opened for acts, such as Tower of Power, Chris Isaak, Dispatch, Mitch Chakour, and Adam Lambert.
In May, The Chase Home launched ‘Pave the Way Forward’ to raise funds to repave its rapidly deteriorating driveway, a campaign that has met with success. “We are thrilled to have a new driveway,” noted Meme Wheeler, executive director of The Chase Home. “This is a project that was long overdue.”
At The Chase Home’s 8th Annual Wine & Chocolate Tasting at Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club in Portsmouth on Tuesday, November 8, chocolate will figuratively, if not literally, take center stage. Participating chocolatiers at this year’s 8th Annual Wine & Chocolate Tasting include Enna Chocolate, La Cascade du Chocolat, and Wm Poole Confections.
