In May, nearly 100 persons were in attendance at a Gala event at AC Hotel in Portsmouth that helped raise more than $15,000 to support The Chase Home. The event was presented and organized by Seacoast Oral Surgery Center & Lakes Region Oral Surgery Center.
While primarily focused on providing clinical, counseling, and psycho-therapeutic services to at-risk youth, ages 11 to 19, The Chase Home in Portsmouth offers an ambitious Summer Program explicitly designed “to create unforgettable memories.”
Kids served by The Chase Home are now safely riding in proverbial style in a new van, made possible by proceeds raised from the 8th Annual Wine & Chocolate Tasting in November.
Founded in 2016 by The Chase Home, the Seacoast Community Diversion Program (SCDP) diverts first-time youth offenders from the traditional juvenile justice system. Based on Restorative Justice-based principles, SCDP differs from probation in its focus on the underlying problems of a youth’s criminalized behavior.
In May, The Chase Home launched ‘Pave the Way Forward’ to raise funds to repave its rapidly deteriorating driveway, a campaign that has met with success. “We are thrilled to have a new driveway,” noted Meme Wheeler, executive director of The Chase Home. “This is a project that was long overdue.”
Offering programs in the community as well as serving as an actual home for at-risk youth in crisis, The Chase Home recently received a $2,500 grant from Northeast Delta Dental.
